Embodied Equanimity: Hip Closers & Openers – Fri 6:30pm-8:30 pm
Instead of more hip opening — just another form of craving — let’s find a balanced range of motion and emotion through soft closings, clarity of rotation, organized pelvis and legs, bright feet and precise attention to exertion and ease. This vinyasa class will include standing and seated poses, arm balance preps, upside down and inside out work, and then we will rest.
Detox: The Alchemy of Yoga – Sat 10am-12pm
Transformation practice is a process of purifying negative tendencies and gathering positive tendencies. This is Detox yoga on a refined level. Cyndi’s sequencing of precise pranayama work; quiet pratyhara; smooth, sweaty vinyasa, and shamatha meditation is designed to move stagnant lymph fluid, reduce muscular and mental stress; re-oxygenate organs; rest the brain; increase physical vitality, and loosen the knots of inner and outer negativity. Modified inversions, deep twists, robust movements and some long holds. Let the alchemy of yoga down-regulate you.
All You Have to do is Show Up – Sat 1:30pm-3:30pm
What a relief to let go of our ambition and expectations, hopes and fears. Practice isn’t really about the quality of experience: good, peaceful, bumpy, easeful. It’s about the thread of awareness. We will explore how to really show up for yourself, your own practice, and your life off the mat. What does it mean to be present for others, to have faith in a process, and be a vehicle for the goodness of yoga to move through us with robust authenticity, vibrancy and organic creativity? We will practice asana and meditation, do some writing, creative thinking and discussion.
Taking Refuge: A Half-Day Urban Retreat – Sun 9am-12 pm
All yogic practices are methods for getting familiar with ourselves, so that we can learn to let go of habits which create stress and move toward joy and contentment. This evolution only happens with regular, diligent and patient practice.
Cyndi will give a dharma talk on the Seven Supports for Cultivating Equanimity, followed by meditation to ventilate the tights spots in body and mind/heart. This fresh energy will inform the spaciousness of a slow, flowing yoga class. Emphasis will be on sensuous placement, rich participation in each posture, and wakefulness within transition.
Bring your open heart and sit down on the cushion. Watch your mind, feel your breath, move your body. There will be time for Q & A, so bring your curiosity, too.
