Yoga and Buddhist practices teach us how to be fully present by engaging in just one activity at a time. Yet our body tells us that it gets strong, clear and nimble when we alternate our activity on a regular basis.This weekend we will integrate single-tasking focus with our innate need for variety by toggling between slow and faster asana sequences, pranayama, meditation, contemplative writing and walking, as the path toward resiliency, freshness and deeper connection.

Cyndi Lee is the first female Western yoga teacher to fully integrate yoga asana and Tibetan Buddhism in her practice and teaching. In 1998, she founded OM yoga Center in NYC, which became a mecca for yogis worldwide. One of the most influential teachers in the U.S., Cyndi’s classes are grounded in dharma, alignment-based, and creatively sequenced to help students connect to the sanity and wisdom of their own heart/mind. Her newest book is critically acclaimed May I Be Happy: A Memoir of Love, Yoga and Changing My Mind. Other books include Yoga Body, Buddha Mind and OM yoga: A Guide to Daily Practice. Recover: gathering the threads of attention

Friday, fri 22 september 2017 7.30pm – 9.30pm
We will move back and forth between short warming vinyasas, walking meditation, pranayama, restorative yoga, and meditation, threading awareness throughout each different activity. This class will be floor based – sitting, lying, rocking and rolling, twisting and using props to invert. Perhaps a downward dog or two will pop up, but no standing up poses will happen this evening. If you had an intense week or are looking to still the mind and body, this can be your recovery class.

What happens when we let go and trust the forms of our practice? Patanjali says the path toward instituting good new habits is through engaging in clear pro-social action, such as mindful asana, without worrying about outcome. That could happen in this bright asana class which offers lots of rhythmic movement, long holds, slow, fast, plain and fancy walking meditations, self-adjustments and even a little bit of talking.  A class that starts with a dharma talk, goes through a long arc and ends with a cool finish.  You just have to show up.

Resilience: moving out of your comfort zone

Saturday, sat 23 september 2017 2.00pm – 4.30pm
Whatever you’ve got going on, bring it and let’s move. This full-on, strong asana class will include poses you do and don’t like, transitions you do and don’t like and parts of your body and mind that sometimes you do and don’t like. When everything is included, our comfort zone expands and resiliency arises. This asana class will be good for those who are more experienced. Inversions, arm balances, jumping and surprises will happen.

Union: one pointed concentration in motion

Sunday, sun 24 september 2017 10.00am – 12.30pm
Yoga is often described as the union of body and mind.  The main point being that of union, yet many people still work with mind and body separately even while practicing yoga.  This class will offer a steady flowing asana experience that gives you the chance to singularly engage in mindful asana practice through all your senses, including the sensory organ of the brain.  

Stillness: taming the monkey mind

Module Cost: £40

Sunday, sun 24 september 2017 2.00pm – 4.30pm
This afternoon session will involve a slow earthy flow that prepares you for inversions, even if you don’t want to turn upside down. It’s about looking and seeing, hearing and listening and not believing everything you think or anything that monkey says or does. Meditation and contemplative writing work will be interwoven with movement so that what we hear becomes imprinted through our physicality.
