3 Day Workshop ~ Friday – Sunday ~ June 5, 6 & 7
Friday June 5th
6pm – 8:30pm
Evening: Getting Familiar: Seeing things as they are
REGISTER FOR THIS WORKSHOP HERE
All yogic practices are methods for getting familiar with ourselves, so that we can learn to let go of habits which create stress and move toward joy and contentment. Cyndi will introduce meditation to ventilate the tight spots in body and mind/heart, and then integrate this fresh energy into the spaciousness of a slow, flowing yoga class. Emphasis will be on sensuous placement, rich participation in each posture, and wakefulness within transition.
Saturday June 6th
Morning: Yoga is not an Aspirin: Opening to Goodness
Rather than expecting yoga to be a fixer-upper for what feels wrong with us, this class will offer teachings that point you toward your natural goodness and sanity, which can be felt in every drop of sweat. These feelings will be familiar to you and that recognition leads to ziji, a kind of confidence based not on what you can do but who you already are. Simple and complex balances, deep twists/untwists and quiet observation provide the canvas for this work.
Afternoon: Embodied Equanimity: Hip Openers & Closers
Instead of more hip opening–just another form of craving–let’s find a balanced range of motion and emotion through soft closings, clarity of rotation, organized pelvis and legs, bright feet, and precise attention to exertion and ease. This vinyasa class will include standing and seated poses, arm balance preps, upside down and inside out work, and then we will rest.
Sunday June 7th
Morning: Purify & Gather: The Alchemy of Practice
The healing modalities of yoga–pranayama, pratyhara, sweaty asana, and restorative work–offer deep levels of detoxification. We’ll move stagnant lymph fluid, reduce muscular and mental stress, reoxygenate organs and rest the brain. Purification also removes unhelpful tendencies and encourages us to gather and channel our innate goodness into non-aggressive, friendly working patterns on and off the mat. This is a medium-paced class which invites meditative awareness and finishes with nourishing restorative yoga.
Afternoon: Getting Results: Strength, Stability and Clarity
The first three benefits of mindful practice are Strength, and Stability and Clarity. Building strength can help us to overcome habitual patterns. Finding stability enables us weather the ups and downs of life. Clarity separates truth from fiction, fantasy from reality.
