Hip Closing and Opening
Instead of more hip opening–just another form of craving–let’s find a balanced range of motion through soft closings, clarity of rotation, organized pelvis and legs, bright feet, and precise attention to exertion and ease. This vinyasa class will include standing and seated poses, arm balance preps, upside down and inside out work, and some restorative yoga.
Taking the Cure: A Deep Detox Practice
Back in the day, detoxing was called Taking the Cure. The healing modalities of yoga–pranayama, pratyhara, sweaty asana, and restorative work–offer deep levels of detoxification. We’ll move stagnant lymph fluid, reduce muscular and mental stress, reoxygenate organs, rest the brain, and use the “cure” of yoga to encourage nonaggressive working patterns on the mat.
Sun Salutation: Alignment Refinement
Are you going through the motions of the Sun Salutation without really knowing the benefits, history, purpose, or correct alignment? What and where is “flat back” and how does it relate to jumping? How does stepping into a lunge express the philosophy of yoga? What is Warrior 1.5? How does the secret toe movement provide ease for Upward Dog? How does Sun Salutation create internal heat and enervate the nervous system without stress? Come step into the lineage of Surya Namaskar yogis and experience this seminal yoga sequence as a conduit for grace, confidence, and profound connection.
A Wise Woman’s Guide to the Practice of Being In-Between
Do you feel like your body, relationships, career, sexuality, sleep patterns, or capacity for joy are shape shifting? Change, a primary factor between the ages of 40 and 60, is exactly when we need to practice. It is also when confusion and fear can drag us into unhelpful patterns such as overeating, overshopping, or even overexercising. Discover the “In-Between” in Buddhist terms, open to change, and find appreciation for your maturing sensuality, elegance, fierceness, and wisdom.
