After a wonderful fulfilling gig at the great Willow Street studio in Silver Springs, MD, Brad and I had a day off in DC. Of course, we went to the mall which, in case you don’t know, in DC refers to the long grass corridor which begins with the Capitol Building, and flanked by the Smithsonian Institute buildings, leads to the Washington Memorial in the middle, then onto the War Memorial, the reflecting pool and finishes with the majestic Lincoln Memorial. Our GPS took us almost to the Washington Memorial and then said, Start to look for a parking spot! And, miracle of miracles, there was exactly one spot right in front of the Washington Memorial across the street from a zillion food trucks, which seemed so perfect and very American. And then there was a bench right there, too. I put my cotton scarf under my knee, my bag and flip flops under the bench and feeling uplifted (and remembering my home state of Washington) and I opened up to this beautiful day.
