We drove from Virginia Beach to Charleston today — almost 8 hours – but it is so good to be here. Great city, great friends and Holy Cow Yoga is a great yoga studio run by the very most excellent, Trace Bonner. If I look happy and content, it’s because I am! The students here have elegant, refined asana practices, not to mention they are smart and very engaged in svadyaya — self-study. The May I Be Happy weekend included timed writing exercises a la Natalie Goldberg, discussion, Q & A, and I gave four dharma talks exploring Happiness (resilience and ziji/confidence); Health (alignment in every aspect of life); Safe (learning to listen and trust to your own gut), and Ease (if ease was so easy why don’t we live there, working with the oppositional philosophy of yoga and exploring the delight of Exertion!). Each of the four talks were followed by an asana practice so we could practice embodying what we talked about. It is a delight and honor to teach here every two years and this was my fifth visit. Trace suggested that I do my selfie under the cow — isn’t she cute? So we cleared off the front desk and I crawled up there and voila!
