Why not do a Throwback Thursday selfie? Because you have already figured out that these “selflies” are actually taken by my mystery photographer who happened to be out of town on this day. I don’t feel bad about calling them selflies, though, because they are a special category of selfie, which is the “yoga selfie” and those are always taken by others. Who can take a picture of themself in a yoga pose? Anyway, I really liked this picture from a week earlier when we were in DC. There were gazillions of people visiting the Lincoln Memorial from all over the world, which thrilled me. The legacy of Lincoln is still so vibrant. It was next to impossible to get a photo in front of the statue because of the crowds and everyone trying to get a pic. I love that this mom and son are in my photo. How perfect. It’s a shared history, a shared space, a shared legacy. My heart goes up in reverence.
